The iPhone 6 was good but Apple’s upcoming version iPhone 7 is reported to bring some exciting changes. You’ll see the same pairing with the iPhone 7 and 7 Plus for the smaller and larger more feature packed version. The appearance of the iPhone 7 is similar to the 6 but there have been a few changes to the exterior. The antenna no longer winds around the back. Instead it has been moved to the front in answer to customer complaints. Apple has done away with the 3.5 mm jack and replaced it with stereo speakers and a Lightning port. The 7 is also available in the traditional colors with the exception of grey and additions of jet black and black in its place. The iPhone 7 has definitely been improved but are the changes enough to warrant an upgrade?

The iPhone 7 has an upgraded processor that leaves the A9 of iPhone 6 behind with 50% more speed. The A10 Fusion is a definite improvement and it also comes out with IOS 10 which is going to be included in all iPhone 6 models as well. Quad core processor has two dedicated processors for performance applications, two for efficiency and a controller that ensures a seamless switch in beween each set for maximum performance and battery life.
The iPhone 7 has a 4.7 inch screen and is the same as the iPhone 6 except for a retina HD display. Each have backlit LED displays and the resolution of each is 1334 x 750p with a ppi of 326. The iPhone 7 has been enhanced to be 25% brighter than the iPhone 6 and have richer colors thanks to P3 which are notable improvements for gamers. The M10 motion coprocessor is embedded for nearly half again as much speed with a performance enhancing GPU for more spectacular gaming graphics.
A new feature over the iPhone 6 is IP67 waterproofing. This means less worry on a rainy day or if you have a beverage spill by the device. The iPhone 6 is more vulnerable to moisture damage than the new and improved iPhone 7. The iPhone 7 also has a different home button with a slight change in design for the rear camera. The iPhone 6 also lacks 3D Touch which is present in the iPhone 7. This makes the new version a little more convenient.
Cameras are another area where the two depart similarities. The iPhone 7 comes with a sex element lens, 12 megapixel sensor and f/1.8 aperture. Quad LED True tone flash, wider depth of color capturings and body detection. The addition of image stabilization is a new addition to the 7. The rear camera has a capacity of 4K for capture and the front facing reocrds in 1080p.
The iPhone 6 features an 8 mp rear camera with 1.2 mp front facing camera with apertures of f/2.2. The iPhone 6 lacks th front flash and cannot be used for 4k video recording or for live photos. It also lacks image stablization and Quad LED. The iPhone 7 battery life is supposed to be around 14 hours which exceeds 12 hours for the iPhone.
The new iPhone 7 will come out at an average price of $649 for the basic storage option. Add $100 for each jump in storage for $949 for the 256 GB option.
The iPhone 6 starts at $549 with the same price differentials for more storage.
Is the new iPhone 7 worth the cost to upgrade?
This depends on what you need or desire from your iPhone. The iPhone 7 has better speed and graphics for gamers, greater live photo and video capabilities, is faster and has a couple hours more battery life. The waterproofing might be an extra for some users, but whether or not to upgrade is a personal choice. One thing is for certain… Apple has made some drastic improvements, especially for users who like to use their iPhones for gaming, video or live photo.
